A member asked:

What're the long term effects of taking adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) xr 25mg twice a day for two years?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See below: Currently Adderall is prescribed to treat symptoms that cause a current impairment. If it is effective, one long-term consequence will be the ability to function, hold a job, etc for the years involved. There is some evidence that Ritalin (methylphenidate) (a different drug) in primary school children can lead to a benefit that lasts for a year or more. Data on Adderall are unclear. Addiction risk is another issue.
