Confusion: Interstitial lung disease (ild) causes lung damage which is referred to as pulmonary fibrosis. There is a form of ild that is called idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

Pretty much: These two terms overlap. There are many different classifications of interstitial lung diseases, some of which are called pulmonary fibrosis and again there are several different kinds. They all have different prognoses, consult your doctor.
