Could you run when you have a dvt?

Depends: If the acute phase of the clot has passed and the blood thinners (anticoagulants) are stable and in good control and symptoms have resolved, walking, swimming , and even light running may be ok. However if a clot is recent or the medication is not in good control it is not a good idea. Ask your md about when it is safe to run and perform other exercise..

Probably.: There is good evidence that early ambulation in patients with DVT can help improve the affected leg earlier, even when symptoms continue, but i agree that consulting with your doctor is advised.

Yes: Dr. Lizarraga is right. Early ambulation has clearly been shown to be beneficial. As long as things are stable on your medications and running doesn't cause pain, it is ok to do. As drs. Toppin and lizarraga said though, clear it with you own doctor first.
