No: Technology and awareness for radiation exposure has increased so the safety is optimal. Digital x-rays is even less exposure to radiation. So dental x-rays are very safe.

Nope: Nowadays, dental X-rays shoot at such a high speed of film or with digital X-rays there is hardly any radiation exposure. You get mor radiation from your television or cell phone. So unless you are getting radiation therapy for something or take a ridiculous number of dental xrays in the same spot...not to worry. As for radiation scatter...wear a lead apron and if you ask a thyroid collar.
