What can treat chapped lips?

Topical moisteners: Cahpped lips are dry and lack water/oil on the surface. There are many otc preparations such as carmex and chapstick which are quite effective. It might take a couple of days of application to treat this.

Moisture: Chapped lips? Hydrate well- water is best. You can apply lip balms with beeswax base or oil base creams. Remember that lips require solar protection just like your skin – apply & reapply balms or creams with a minimum spf of 15. Going skiing ?- protect from sun & windburn by covering with a scarf or better yet, a ski / snowboard face mask with visor.

Chapped Lips: To treat chapped lips: discontinue use of the causing medications, if possible. If medications cannot be discontinued, apply petroleum jelly as often as needed. Avoid lip licking because this will only worsen the condition. Avoid "medicated" lip preparations because they increase the risk of developing an allergic reaction.
