Chapped lips can be: due to sun damage, licking your lips and overall dry skin. Try using lip sunscreens during the day and lip repair with silymarin at night.

No: Cleft lips and cleft palates are surgically corrected by a cranio-facial reconstruction team that includes oral surgeons, plastic surgeons, ear-nose-throat surgeons, etc... Later, dentists and orthodontists straighten the teeth and add teeth implants if needed.

Botox, fillers, laser: Depending on how deep your wrinkles are, lines around the lip can be treated with a combination of Botox (reducing pursing motion of the lips), fillers (injections into the deeper lines), and laser resurfacing to address the fine lines.

How does smoking affect your lips?

Dr. Daniel Behroozananswered

Badly: Smoking affects "lip lines" in two ways:
1. The repetitive movement around the lips as a result of puckering repetitvely can lead to vertical lines around the mouth.
2. More importantly, smoking can lead to elastic fiber and collagen degeneration in the skin, which as a result, can lead to sagging and wrinkling of the perioral skin.

My lips sometimes take a pale or bluish color. Is this normal?

Pallor (pale): Can be a reaction to cold and vasoconstriction to keep warm, or pallor can indicate anemia. Blue lips, cyanosis, can indicate lack of oxygenation, a sign of pulmoanry or heart problems. However, check with your doctor to figure this out rather than looking in the mirror.
