A member asked:

Could you still have a chest infection even if your not wheezy or coughing up phlegm?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: While typical bacterial pneumonia presents with wheezing and productive cough, it can also cause a dry, non-productive cough, chest pain when you breathe, etc. Viral and atypical bacterial pneumonia are also characterized by dry coughs. If you still feel sick, see your physician for a possible chest x-ray or sputum culture.
