If you're experiencing frequent wheezing, coughing,& raising copious discolored sputum, amox may not be enough treatment. Asthmatic bronchitis is a stubborn type of bronchitis which requires aggressive treatment with appropriate antibiotics, bronchdilator inhalers,& corticosteroid inhaler as well as oral corticosteroids for as long as two weeks or more. I recommend being reexamined by your MD.

If you were truly given amoxicillin (amoxyl) NOT amoxicillin/clavulanate (augmentin), amoxyl is useless most pulmonary bacterial infection. Fortunately, chest cold syndrome is often due to viral infection so antibiotic, regardless how strong it is, does not change the course. If there is no fever +/- pleuritic chest pain +/- significant change in color and phlegm quantity, you should be fine.
