See a specialist: 18 month old infants should not need daily laxatives. She should see a pediatric gastroenterologist.

Alter dosing or chng: Miralax (polyethylene glycol) is more a wetting agent than a laxative & is retained within the bowel in its wet form. If your child still makes hard stools you can increase the mirilax until you get soft stools, dosing twice a day or more. Pushing other fluids can also help.If no benefit have a recheck & consider changing meds.

Diet: My colleagues answers are excellent. In addition, consider causes , such as dietary things. For example, dairy occasionally dairy constipates toddlers. Try a dairy free diet for a week and see what happens.

Miralax (polyethylene glycol): Often stops working because of a fecal impaction that requires treatment, or because the Miralax (polyethylene glycol) dose is not given in the right dose, mixed in the right ratio, or given consistently. You might want to check with your doctor to see which reason is most likely. The other treatment might be refrigerated cherry flavored milk of magnesia.
