Kidney stone: It depends on where the stone is. If it ends up blocking the tube that leads out of the kidney or from the bladder, it can cause further pain and can lead to kidney disease (from obstruction). Some stones can cause scaring in the kidneys. Often stones will pass on their own with enough hydration if they are small enough. If not, they may need to be removed or broken up.
