Yes: Dengue is an infection spread by mosquitoes. Age doesn't matter. Anyone who is exposed can get it. If you are in area with dengue, make sure to wear insect repellent with deet, use mosquito nets around your bed at night, preferably wear long sleeves and pants (can be light weight and light colored), and check your skin daily for bites and for any symptoms of illness.

Dengue affects all: It's certainly possible that living in the Philippines you could contract dengue. Those 'tiger' mosquitoes are the most dangerous. Symptoms of dengue are pretty awful - fevers, muscle aches, malaise (feeling wiped out), and the characteristic rash. There's 4 different dengue viruses, so even if you recovered from one, you could catch any of the other 3 virus strains in circulation. Avoid the bite!
