Dermoid Cyst: To remove a dermoid cyst, the doctor will clean the area over which the cyst is located, inject a local anesthetic, and make an incision directly over the cyst and attempt remove it completely.

See below: To get a definitive diagnosis the cyst will have to be biopsied. This is usually done under anesthesia in a child this small.
