Trauma & more: Trauma is the leading cause and is usualy in the older population. Also seen in football at times. They may also occur thru a bone tumor or be a stress fracture. An insufficiency fractuer is seen without recognizable event in osteoporotic people. Also can be a complication from taking rx for osteoporosis. R atypical sub throchanteric fractures. Meds to help can hurt in these cases.
