Not very helpful: Topical steroids are not very effective for hives due to the mechanism involved. Hives move around, so you will just end up chasing them with the cream. If steroid meds are needed, an oral one will go best. Mainstay for hives is antihistamines like benedryl or zyrtec (cetirizine).
