Labor & Delivery: Third trimester bleeding can be serious. Make sure your OB sees you and performs 1. Speculum exam (to see where bleeding is coming from 2. Nst (assess fetal well being) 3. Ultrasound (look for placenta abnl & assess infant). If no source is found, an abruption is the diagnosis of exclusion and you should be followed closely with serial nsts, exam, and ultrasounds.
