Less than a week.: Half-life elimination for Depakote (increased with liver disease): adults: 9-16 hours. That means that within a week after stopping depakote, it is completely out of your system. Your wife should be taking Folic Acid at 4-5 mg daily to prevent fetal anomalies for 6-52 weeks prior to conception!
