Number is normal: A platelet count of 148 (148, 000) is normal unless it is a big change from a previous number. The "normal ranges" on lab tests are approximate numbers, not exact cut-off points.

Agree with Dr. K: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, a count of 148 k is not meaningfully different from 150 k.
