A member asked:

Hello, my platelets have risen since my last blood test in june from 524 to 563. but it was 524 from my february test too. serum reactive protein is 8 mg/l so low inflammation? red&white blood cells are normal. should i be concerned? thankyou?

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, iron deficiency is a common cause of high platelet counts. You may take oral iron and multivitamins and talk to your doctor. Wish you good health!
