Slow transit: 2yo kids are busy explorers who like to do what they want & avoid doing what they don't. By 2 they have learned they can hold a poop. If they do, the delay allows the stool to bulk up & dry & cause pain with passage.A scratch or fissure in the anus adds blood to the passing poo. Then they decide to avoid stooling when they can because it hurts & the cycle continues until treated.

Your two year old: Must have a bad experience w bowel movements.Everytime he try to give it away, his stomach hurts.Felt relief when he holds off.Poop gets drier, creates a lock to his hiney. It gets tougher to go.More pain, more constipated & blood & fecal soiling as a consequence.Offer him plenty of veges, fruits, fluids. Also give him pedialax, MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) etc to ease it up and make it easier for him to go.See md for help.
