Any university...: Any university where one can really shine, is a good place to get a bachelor's degree. The student must be able to learn all his life sciences material really really well, and demonstrate it on his grades and standardized test scores. The actual major doesn't matter, but should be something the student enjoys and makes him a mature, well-rounded person.

Premed - one option: Although there is not a particular bachelor's degree that is necessary to go to medical school, getting into a premed program can be helpful as often it will require the same courses that medical schools require as prerequisites.

science: Check with a few medical schools to see what their requirements are, and then think about what you like. If you love music, major in that, and make sure you take all of the needed requirements for medical school. Otherwise, a major in biology or chemistry is probably the most relevant. You will need to develop proficiency in the sciences, so it helps to get a jump on that in college.
