Yes: It most certainly can. See the surgeon who treated you. You may need kenalog (triamcinolone) injections to improve the scar. Good luck.

Definitely: On certain skin types (darker, usually, or genetically predisposed) and in certain areas of the body (central chest or upper arm or back) hypertrophic scars can develop after any type of skin damage, including mole removal. This can be treated with massage and/or steroid injection. Remember, unlike the mole, the scar will usually not get slowly larger and can never change to melanoma!
