Not adviseable : You can, but i wouldn't advise it. Taking 2 sedating medications at the same time is never a good idea.

Yes - Watch Sedation: These medicines can potentially be used at the same time. However, they can both cause drowsiness (bigger risk with ativan) so you would need to be careful about that possibility. Be sure to take Ativan (lorazepam) under close medical supervision - there can be issues of drug dependence with long term use.

Caution....: Please keep in mind that taking medications that cause drowsiness, such as Ativan, a benzodiazepine, and Atarax, (hydroxyzine) an antihistiamine, can exacerbate the drowsiness and can lead to sedation. These side effects impair one's ability to execute functions such as driving or operating machinery. Recommending discussing with your doctor first and getting clearance. Hope this is helpful. Hydroxyzine: For as long as the medication is prescribed for what it is supposed to treat. If you have concerns, you really should bring them up to the prescribing doctor, since they know what they are treating you for.
