Variety of Causes: Most common = dryness, trauma, allergy, infection, physical exertion, h/o surgery, (rarely) tumor. Humidifying the air and using saline spray and/or ointment at night can be a good first attempt at decreasing bleeding. Exam by doctor when bleeding is excessive. Hope this helps!
