Inflammation: Anytime there is bleeding unless there is trauma to the area, it is sign of inflammation. What causes inflammation? Food sticking around gum line of your crown and bacteria on top of it and the combination called plaque is an irritant to the gum hence the inflammation. The junction of crown and tooth might be slightly open or the crown can be over contoured causing plaque retention.

Several possibilitie: Hi, bleeding at the gumline could be due to: 1) inflammation of the gums or 2) more than gingivititis/inflammation, an infection. Best thing is to go see the dentist or te one who made you the crown. Make sure you floss, brush gently at the gum lines, and rinse. Good luck.

Periodontitis: Often it is more difficult to thoroughly clean the area where the crown meets the tooth. This leads to plaque build up which leads to bleeding and irritation under the crown. This can also lead to decay and possible loss of the crown and/ or the tooth. This condition can usually be reversed with careful brushing and flossing using a good quality soft toothbrush.
