Disoriented, elderly: Unless your father is blind and this is usual for him, sitting in a dark room with the curtains drawn sounds like possible depression. Being also now "very disoriented, " he could have an additional medical illness going on. He needs to be seen and evaluated by his primary care physician asap. New disorientation could result from many possible problems, from bladder infection to tia.
