Many possibilities: The most common causes of a rash following surgery are either a reaction to a medication or to the skin prep used to sterilize the skin right before surgery. Common interventions include Benadryl (diphenhydramine) (pill or topical), an otc steroid cream, and/or discontinuing any new medication. Do not try this without checking with your doctor--they will want to help you sort this out.
