Steroid injections.: Keloids occur when the body forms excess scar tissue so surgical removal of a keloid can result in the formation of another keloid in the same spot. Steroids cause dissolution and contraction of the keloid tissue and generally has good results, but may require multiple injections.

Tough problem: Keloid formation is a disease, you body does not recognize that healing has been complete and doesn't stop. I have had amazing results by combining an old chemotherapy drug 5-FU with steroid and injecting into the keloid either without excision or better weekly after excision. There are several papers out but if you can't find them i could give you a reference.
