Calming: One of the best ways to calm yourself is to take several deep breaths and focus on your breathing in and out. You can also try sipping some water.

Deep breaths: The breath tells the story of our emotional life. Anxiety induces shortness of breath. Choppy breath in turn causes the heart to pump faster to oxygenate the blood. This increase in heart rate enhances the experience of anxiety. Take slow, deep, full breaths through the nose. In and out. You will begin to overcome the anxiety. If it returns do deep breathing again.

Don't Let it Boil: Anticipation can cause anxiety to build. Think of a pot of boiling water. You want to keep it on low so it doesn't boil over. Learn to self-assess and prevent anxiety from building above a 7 on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the worst anxiety.
