Coccygectomy: Coccyx represents the vestigial tail in humans, that's why it at times is referred to as tailbone. A few ligaments attach to it, but when one has pain in the coccyx area, it is called coccydynia. These respond very well to various non-surgical treatment modalities. Only very few will ever need surgery for this. Due to the location of the incision, post-op infection is the most common complication.
