Infection: Giardiasis and certain viral diarrheal illnesses. Giardia infection of the small intestine can cause decreased absorption of nutrients and may be mistaken for gluten enteropathy. Surprisingly patients with low IgA do not have a higher frequency of food allergy. That's giardia in the photo.
