Only if causing....: This could only occur if there was an infection caused by this organism in the spine region: a discitis which is a disc infection, an osteomyelitis which is a bone infection or an epidural abscess which is an infection of the spinal canal or a combination of any of these. You could have a kidney or urinary tract infection with MRSA presenting as back pain.

Not usually: Mrsa is a type of bacteria that can cause infection that is resistant to methicillin and other penicillins. It is common in people who don't have an active infection, on their skin or in their nose. Mrsa itself won't cause back pain but a severe infection in your back from MRSA can. The most common cause of back pain is the disc and back joint changes that come with time as we get older.
