Many causes but: Most likely due to biting both sides when sleeping. If you do not think this is the reason please see your dentist and your ENT doctor.

Tongue pain: It could be any number of things, starting from simply an irritation from rough edges on your teeth or fillings. However, it could be other things as well. When it is present, see your own dentist for a definitive diagnosis as to what it is and whether or not it can/should be treated. Some people have a habit of rubbing their tongue along their teeth. Find out for sure.
