Quadraplegia: Can be caused by anything that will interrupt the electrical activity (conduction) of the nerves. The above problems are due to infections of various areas near and around the spinal cord that can compress the cord and disrupt the flow along the nerve causing paralysis. The location determines where one is paraplegic (lower extremities) or quad (both upper and lower extremities).
