See below: Good question! an abscess is an accumulation of puss within a body cavity-in this case-within the epidural space. The primary symptoms is severe, increasing back pain and fever. In addition, the patient may have bowel or bladder incontinence, or leg numbness or weakness (spinal abscess). If the abscess is in the brain, they may c/o headache, lethargy, n/v, fever and neck stiffness.
