A member asked:

Dear sir, my mother is facing with scl-70 positive. please let me know how can we make treatment and what will we avoid. best regard nway....?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Troublesome disease: With regard to scleroderma, scl-70 is a topoisomerase-1-antibody and this is present in about 30-35% of those with diffuse disease. Scleroderma is most noticeable on the skin but it can affect virtually any organ/system including lung, heart, eye, kidneys, gastrointestinal tract etc. Treatment is difficult and it is advisable that she sees a rheumatologist. I wish her the best of luck.
