Antiinflammatories..: Oa of the knee is treated with non-steroidal antiinflamatories first if Acetaminophen is not helping. If oral medications are a problem topical capsaicin or topical voltaren (diclofenac) may help. If no better with previous tx., injections of cortisone into the joint may aliviate for hours, days, weeks or months. Before severe, may get injections of lubricants (hyalgan)severe oa may need total knee replacement.
