Hmmm...: I saw a case like yours just a few days ago. The test looks for antibodies to the virus, so if there is a problem with your immune system not producing antibodies, that could theoretically affect the test. The oral lesions can be biopsied since they have a very specific appearance under a microscope. That is one potential avenue you could pursue if you are hitting a dead end.

Probably not: No tests are perfect however there may be another reason for a false negative result. It takes about 3 to 6 weeks for you to develop antibodies for herpes simplex. I suggest you re-take the test. Almost everyone that ultimately tests positive will do so by 16 weeks. If it is still negative seek another opinion.
