Need to look at all: Results. A few beers are not likely to raise alkaline phosphatase levels. How high was the level? What were the results of alt/ast? Any lab result should be interpreted in the clinical context of the person and that is best done by the person's doctor.

Hard to say: If the alkaline phosphatase was high while other liver enzymes were normal, it can indicate many things - gallbladder or bone problems would be high on the list. Additional tests to break down the alk phos and additional tests of liver, gallbladder and bone function can help make a diagnosis. However, it is not uncommon to have mild-moderate elevations of alk phos and never find a cause.

How high?: Mildly elevated alk phos in a person who feels well and has no other obvious problems are essentially never a problem. You know that all lab reference ranges are set so that a few percent of healthies fall a little bit outside on either end. Beer tends to raise SGOT /SGPT but not alk phos. Non-fasting alk phos is from the gut and is meaningless. Best wishes.
