EMG has limitations: Emg / nerve conduction velocity (ncv) is an expensive and unpleasant test. It is useful to diagnose muscle and nerve disorders. It is probably over ordered, and if the doctor said you don't need it, that is probably good advice.

Dr. can usually tell: An experienced neurologist or physical medicine and rehabilitation doctor can usually tell the reason for twitching (based on talking to the patient, examining the patient, and seeing what other signs and symptoms are either present or absent). If the patient is still worried about her symptoms, getting a second opinion is fine to do.
