Only emergency: Emergency room admissions are based on emergency only not on insurance. Even if you have insurance if hernia is not incarcerated will not get admitted , have to come electively to get it repaired. Go to your local hospital or city hospital they will make arrangements for repair of your hernia as soon as possible.

Elective or emergent: Most hernias can be categorized as elective. That references the way they are repaired surgically. Some hernias will become more urgent or even emergent if certain complications occur. Your best long term outcome is an elective repair. The emergency room will treat your hernia complication (incarceration) and convert your situation back to elective. There will be a bill either way.
