A member asked:

Please, what's the difference between feeling a normal pulse in the abdominal aorta and a pulse that might indicates aneurysm? thank you

Need more test: No actual difference except if the patient is thin and the physician can assess the size of the aorta which is not accurate . Best thing to do if you suspect an abdominal aortic aneurysm is to have a duplex ultrasound , it is none invasive and takes few minutes to perform.

Wide vs narrow pulse: It is easy to feel your normal aorta behind your belly button. Push in and pay attention to the pulse. The normal aorta is about 2 to 3 cm in diameter. An aneurysm will be wider, bigger. An ultrasound will give more precise measurements.
