Ganglion/mucous cyst: Minor damage to the joint capsule (surroundinf joint tissue) can cause a leakage of joint fluind out and form a small cyst called ganglion or mucous cyst. It is typically not painful by itself unless frequent pressure/irritation on it. It it is not dangerous, but can be bother some some folks. It can be drained, excised, or in the old days commonly smashed by the bible. Consult doc. Good luck.
