A member asked:

If 1/2 of one's thyroid is removed, will a persons thyroid output decrease by 1/2 ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Generally, the remaining thyroid, if normal, will increase it's output to make up the difference; it can compensate. But that is assuming it's a normal thyroid, not knowing why 1/2 of the thyroid was removed.
