Stage 4 CKD: This indicates that his kidney function has declined to somewhere between about 30% to about 15% of normal; stages of kidney disease range 1 thru 6; stage 6 is on dialysis; stage 5 is needing dialysis or transplant; your father requires diet change: low salt, low potassium, low phosphate, low meat, and care with fluids; seeing a dietitian is essential; he requires phosphate binder; EPO perhaps.
