NSAIDs, rest (RICE): Osgood-schlatter's is a condition where the top of the tibia (large bone in the lower leg) is pulled by patellar (knee cap) tendon along the growth plate. It is more likely to occur during growth spurts. It typically heals on its own, with rest (2-6 weeks). It may reoccur within the next 2 years, as long as the child continues to grow.

Patience : Osgood schlatter's disease is a bone problem that occurs in burgeoning adolescence. It is benign in most cases. Antiinflammatories & rest are all that is usually needed to deal with it. Occasionally it's gets severe enough to merit casting. After growth is over the problem settles down. This is particularly common in male athletes. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/osgood-schlatter-disease/ds003.
