Depends...: If your respiratory status is at its normal baseline, then it may be ok to proceed with the procedure. However, if the cough is acute and/or different than your baseline, then it would be in your best interest to wait until the cough resolves, especially if the procedure is under general anesthesia. See your doctor pre-procedure to be certain.

Yes: If you have no fever, a normal chest x-ray and no wheezing, chances are you'll be fine.However, if you aren't feeling well, you may want to put it off. Why do you need to be intubated? Most colonoscopies are done with some form of twilight anesthesia. It is unusual to require an intubation. Knowing why may lead me to a different conclusion than the one above.
