Teenage depression: Depending on the age, few antidepressants are approved for use in youngsters, such as prozac (fluoxetine). Discuss with his doctor.

Antidepressant : I usually use zoloft (sertraline) or celexa. They are well tolerated with low side effects. Caution that there is increased suicidal ideation associated with ssri's in teens but not increased suicide. Please make sure medication is in connection with evaluation by your doctor.
