Why is my eye lid tender to touch.

Likely a stye: Styes start with tenderness of the lid due to the internal inflammation. I am assuming this came up fairly quickly and the vision is unaffected and you have not had injury or surgery. Try using topical heat frequently for several days and if persistent, then contact your ophthalmologist.

Probably stye: Or chalazion- infections of the glands. Try hot compresses, then antibiotic drops if no relief.
