How does ivig treatments help with mg? i am already on mestinon (pyridostigmine) and predisone with not much change.

Can stabilize: On occasion, ivig can interrupt a period of poor responsivity to your current meds. Some pts improve after 2 or 3 ivig infusions, and stabilize. Ivig contains many immune chemicals, and since myasthenia is a problem with the neuromuscular junction, the autoimmune attack can be quelled when a relapse occurs. Unlikely that you will need this approach permanently.

Multiple treatments: Myasthenia may require multiple treatments simultaneously, and IVIG is one of the treatments. Your doctor may adjust the dose of prednisone and may add other immunosuppresent.
