Non- invasive first!: Start with genetic counseling to appreciate the risks costs and differences between invasive diagnostic testing versus non-invasive screening prenatally. Most reasonable couples prefer a 2-step approach with non-invasive testing first; if that is negative/normal no further testing is needed and you have avoided having a needle inserted in your pregnancy sac. If positive you must get invasive test!
